A Really convenient location, directly opposite a tram stop for access in to Basel, but it is only a 10min downhill walk to the city centre, so used more for the return to the hotel. We got free travel tickets for bus and tram rides in and around Basel. It is also valid for the return trip to the airport. So worth investigating about the free transportation.

After having struggled with choosing the right hotel in Basel, we were very glad to have settled on Hotel Spalentor. From the historic and convenient location, to the genial and courteous staff, our first stay in Basel was eminently pleasant. The rooms were clean and the breakfast scrumptious. We also loved our tree-framed view of the Spalentor gate, the clean room, stylish decor, and the thoughtful touches including a postcard signed by the staff, and a complimentary Spalentor rubber duck who will accompany us on future adventures. Sadly we only had one night in Basel this time, but hope to return to Hotel Spalentor soon!

The hotel was clean, spacious and comfortable. I would have preferred the bed to have had a thinner duvet as the room was hot and it was too noisy too sleep with the window open. There were tea making facilities in the room and the receptionists were happy to supply extra tea bags when asked. The hotel is 2 minutes away from bus stops to and from the main station, and near a major landmark so it's easy to find. It's also within walking distance of the shopping centre and tourist spots. There was a varied selection of food for breakfast and always fresh fruit in reception to provide an evening snack.

Location was excellent. Close to tram and bus stops. Staff were wonderful. Little extras in the room (apples and card signed by staff) were a lovely touch.

The breakfast menu had great choices. The food was fresh and tasty. The server was friendly and accomodating. The staff were also very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay there.

We arrived at the Hotel very early since we were leaving a cruise. The staff was extremely friendly. They took our luggage and locked it up and gave us so much information to go out and spend the day in beautiful Basel! Our only issue was it was very hot in our room and I couldn't figure out how to turn down the heat. It was a small issue which I am sure would have been resolved if I had called the front desk. I would absolutely stay there again!

This was a spacious room. It is not close to the Viking dock. The good part was it was across the street from the botanical garden. The staf were helpful getting us to he Viking ship on time.

Lovely little place, super convenient, right next to Spalentor, so right in the centre, with lots of lovely restaurants around. Friendly, very attentive staff, super comfy rooms. Couldn't fault it.

Spotless room, super location by bus stop for travel to train station, and by old city gate. Made everything super walkable. Staff was very helpful when getting an uber to our ship and when looking for dining destinations

Excelente hotel com funcionárias gentis , simpáticas e que fazem tudo para vc ter uma ótima estadia. Muito fácil de ir da estação de trem central através do ônibus com apenas 3 paradas ate o hotel. O portão ds cidade antiga fica em frente com lojas, restaurantes. Ficamos apenas 1 noite porquê fomos fazer um cruzeiro no rio Reno e foi perfeito! Recomendo 100%
