Fjärde gången jag bodde på Silo. Bra sängar och rum. Väldigt trevlig personal. Enkel in- och utcheckning. Praktiskt läge för mig som använder mig av Badisher Bahnhof antingen för att komma hit, åka vidare till Tyskland eller om jag bara vill ta en dagstur till Freiburg eller Strasbourg. Bra frukost. Det enda som hade gjort Silo ännu bättre är större skåp att ha medelstor resväska i för när jag kommer till Basel vill jag alltid köpa med mig mina och min familjs favoritsaker med mig hem. Jag kommer definitivt komma tillbaka igen! Ni som aldrig provat Silo, gör det! Ni kommer vilja komma tillbaka igen och igen.

The stay was simply brilliant for an hostel you could hardly ask anything more clean and spacious dorms, wonderful repurposed building with lots of history attached, great location to explore the town, with bus stop right at your door & the girls were absolutely amazing caring helpful friendly...will happily stay again.

Bra säng och allt i och kring rummet var väldigt fräscht. Nära tågstation och andra kommunikationer. Att checka in kvällstid fungerade inte bra i mitt fall. Trots att jag checkat in online och fått bekräftelse sade det digitala systemet att mitt rum ännu inte var klart. Efter telefonsupport löste det sig.

I will say that the entire staff was super nice, especially nickole.... It is such a really unique and beautiful building that literally used to be a grain silo! I will return for sure! Highly recommend!

Absolut reizendes, einzigartiges Baudesign, gemütliches Ambiente trotz viel Beton, topsauber; das netteste und sympathischste Personal was mir in einem Hostel wohl jemals begegnet ist, zudem unkompliziert, hilfsbereit und gefuldig. Bleibt definitiv ein Geheimtipp für künftige Gelegenheiten.

Quiet, clean, spacious - brilliant stay. Stayed in female four bed dorm in this interestingly designed hostel.
The only comment I’d have is that the dorm rooms are so big the beds could probably be individually set out, rather than stacked as bunks. To save the squeaking of top bunks and steps etc.

What a unique building and worth the experience. The breakfast included was great, friendly staffs, and the hallways are quiet.

Riktigt bra erfarenhet. Trevlig personal. Fräscha rum. Bra frukost. Enkel incheckning. Är man okej med att bo på vandrarhem så är detta ett riktigt bra alternativ. 10 minuters promenad till spårvagn samt tågstationen Badischer Bahnhof.

We had a fantastic stay in our double room. The building is incredible, a real marvel to stay in. The room was spacious and spotless, with a comfortable bed and nice warm high pressure shower. There is busy traffic outside but, as suggested in the room itself, we enjoyed sitting and watching it go by and were undisturbed by any noise. The blackout curtains also blocked any light out.
The staff were absolutely lovely and very kind to store our bags for our final day. The breakfast and coffee selection was also so lovely with homemade items, local produce and just generally a nice mix of choice.

The stay at Silo Design & Boutique Hostel in Basel was great. The staff were all kind and showed high hospitality & great service. The Hostel is well organized and the breakfast was great with a variety of Swiss cheese.
I would like to thank Nicole especially, with her kindness in helping me with Check-in formality and also with providing some ideas/ suggestions about experiencing Switzerland.
I would highly recommend anyone to book their stay with Silo. Much appreciated!

Auberge de jeunesse dans une belle reconversion architecturale d’un ancien silo à cacao. Petit déjeuner inclus et très copieux. Seul bémol..le vue sur l’autoroute mais pas un seul bruit!

De siste 35 årene har jeg bodd på utallige hostell og hotell rundt om i verden, men aldri har jeg kommet inn i en frokostsal og blitt møtt med et oppriktig og vennlig «God morgen! Har du sovet godt i natt?» Og det mens jeg forsynte meg av rykende ferskt, hjemmebakt brød.
Jeg burde ikke bli overrasket, for allerede ved ankomsten ble jeg hjertelig tatt imot av to blide, imøtekommende ansatte som raskt hjalp meg med å finne ut hvordan jeg skulle få mest mulig ut av mine 18 timer i Basel. Jeg kom rett fra tre kokende varme dager i Roma og lengtet etter å få bade, lurte på om det var mulig å svømme i Rhinen, og dermed ble jeg utstyrt med en vanntett sekk til klær, sko og mobil og forklart hvor i elva jeg skulle starte og hvor jeg måtte avslutte. Slik fikk jeg et av denne interrailturens absolutte høydepunkt! Å flyte nedover Rhinen på denne måten, sammen med hundrevis av andre mennesker, omgitt av Basels vakre arkitektur, var helt fantastisk.
Og selvsagt var rommet rent og ryddig, i likhet med alle hostellets fasciliteter, og senga var veldig komfortabel. Som gjest fikk jeg også et Basel card som ga meg gratis buss og trikk.
Men viktigst: De ansatte! De fikk meg til å føle meg hjemme og velkommen. Og det er slikt som gjør at jeg gjerne kommer tilbake.

It is really a good place to choose in Basel with easy connection to the city and in the room it is really quiet. The hostel is really clean and modern, with lift considering all levels. Breakfast is included and very delicious. Staff are very enthusiastic! We really enjoyed our one day night in Basel!

The staff it’s really nice and helpful. This is my 1st hostel so I didn’t know what to expect but the property is well maintained, the breakfast top notch and the building clean overall. The only issue I have was when others are coming late and they don’t respect people are trying to sleep (but if you are in a group and all of you are together you don’t have to worry about it) this is not a facility issue.

Sehr große, moderne Zimmer und saubere Sanitäranlagen. Für die relativ kleinen Spinde benötigt man ein eigenes Schloss. Es gab eine Fahrradabstellmöglichkeit innerhalb des Hostels. Das Frühstück war von einer kleineren Auswahl, allerdings hat es mir an nichts gefehlt und die einzelnen Sachen waren sehr lecker.

Nice, big room in a very cool building. Only minus was the heat in the room (but very warm outside). Excellet service at breakfast and we where for example able to borrow a floating bag.

The accommodation is very good, the staff are brilliant, Nicole is particularly helpful and efficient. The only letdown is location; although described as central the property is on the periphery of the city centre and there are few facilities locally.

Die Unterkunft war gut für eine Nacht, aber der Check in nachts um zwei wenn die Tür nicht aufgeht, war schrecklich. Nach fast 1 Stunde und Waage Unterstützung bin ich dann selbst dran rauf gekommen, woran es lag und kam rein, bis ich im Bett lag, war aber schon 3:15 Uhr und ich musste alle wecken , da war ich etwas verzweifelt und alleine

This is a strange hostel. The included breakfast is fantastic and almost made me forgive the weirdness. The design aspects look good but I am not sure this was built for humans. The box that serves as an evening common room on the second floor is far too small. They provide an electric kettle in the common room but no cups, and a refrigerator but no plates or bowls. There is no sink in the common room. Water for the tea kettle can be obtained from the janitors closet on the other side of the hall.
The asymmetrical ladders used in the 4 bed bunk rooms have one side that is far too steep. The room was large but all it contained was one stool, one uncomfortable chair, a full length mirror, and 4 lockers (bring your own padlock). There wasn’t anywhere comfortable sit in the room so everybody hid in their bunkbed pods. Each bunk had only a single USB charging point. In the whole room, there was one single plug (beside the light switch nest to the door). The short extension cord provided meant that I could charge my laptop, if I wanted to leave it on the floor beside the door.
I was also a bit disappointed to find that most of the rooms actually look out at a highway.
There is no one at the check-in desk in the morning so once you check out, you need to take your bags with you.

My train arrived late and checking in was absolutely horrible. There was no one at the desk, the house phone didn't work, and because I'd just arrived from Canada I hadnt activated my eSim card yet. I would have had to sleep on the floor if another lady from Germany hadn't helped me!
